March is Music In Our School's Month (#MIOSM, #MIOSM2016). We are proud of our tradition of excellence in our music program and are grateful for the support of teachers, parents and and administrators.
In recent years, research has been finding positive correlations between music study and improved performance in other academic work and other areas. Part of the findings indicate that performing music by playing an instrument involves both hemispheres of the brain. It is also a 'doing' thing requiring physical processes- fingering notes, using the breath, tongue, diaphragm, etc. in addition to the brain's decoding of what is, essentially, a symbolic (foreign) language- music notation,
