What is Light Up The Holidays?
Light Up The Holidays (sometimes called “Christmas in Dalton”) is a Holiday Celebration sponsored by local businesses in Dalton. The streets are lined with candles from Depot Street all the way to CRA. “Santa” begins a journey from Depot Street at about 5:15 pm and continues to the CRA stopping in at businesses and churches along the way to spread cheer. His arrival at the CRA is about 7:15-7:30.
What do Nessacus Music students do?
Nessacus students (that choose to participate) play Christmas Carols at the CO-Op Bank [on the corner of Carson and Main] from about 6:15 to 7:00. After that, we join the rest of the Central Berkshire Music Dept. (Grades 4-12) at the CRA steps where we play/sing music together. By the way, Central Berkshire music students are all over town playing and singing along the route. Our “spot” just happens to be the Bank. If we have a lot of students, one group will be outside and the other will be inside.
Click Here for the brochure for the event and note that times are approximate.
Why participate?
You will have to find your own reason to contribute but everyone who does has fun. It is right and good to perform for the townspeople in this way. As musicians we have a skill that people enjoy listening to. You should always seek performing opportunities.(There is food available, too!)
