They were dancing in the aisles! They were swaying with their arms around each other! They were clapping and cheering! But the best part is the reason why. "They" are 100+ Nessacus Regional Middle School Students and they were cheering for Music. More precisely, they were cheering for the University Musicians that were performing for them.
In all, our students heard music (or saw performances) by the following UMASS Emsembles:
TRUMPET ENSEMBLE, SYMPHONY BAND, CHAMBER CHOIR, CHAPEL JAZZ ENSEMBLE, ORCHESTRA, SAXOPHONE QUARTET, MARIMBA BAND, FRENCH HORN ENSEMBLE, TROMBONE CHOIR, PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE, JAZZ ENSEMBLE I, UNIVERSITY DANCERS, VOCAL JAZZ ENSEMBLE, WIND ENSEMBLE AND THE MINUTEMAN MARCHING BAND AND FRONT PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE.
The highlight of the Multiband Pops Concert (this was the 38th Annual) is always the Minuteman Marching Band-"The Pride and Class of New England". They did not disappoint with their energetic and powerful performances which began with a tribute to the music of Michael Jackson by the percussion ensemble. By the end, everyone was on their feet carried away by the excitement and enthusiasm of the performance.
It is always a joy to see our students enjoying music so much. Watching and listening to the UMASS ensembles proves to be the best of Master Classes for our young student musicians. UMASS Music provides a compass by which they can steer their efforts and involvement in OUR music program.
We are thankful for UMASS and all of the fine Instructors and Assistants that make the Multiband Pops Concert available and accessible to us. GO! GO U! Go U. MASS. GO U-MASS!!!!!
